AHTF (the American Hand Therapy Foundation) asked IFSHT (the International Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy) to forward information about grants for hand therapists to IFSHT member countries.

AHTF Burkhalter New Investigator Grant
This grant was established in honor of Dr. William Burkhalter (1928-1992), a long time advocate and promoter of hand therapy. AHTF established the grant for any hand therapist in 1993, in order to provide seed grants to therapists conducting research related to hand and upper extremity rehabilitation.

AHTF Grab the Evidence Grant
This grant project allows participation by individuals, groups, and corporations. To support the type of studies needed, grant amounts need to be a minimum of $10,000 per grant. "Adopt a grant" and "Build a grant" mechanisms are available to encourage a wide range of participation. For example, a corporation may "Adopt a grant" by contributing $10,000 or more, while smaller groups or individuals may combine assets to "Build a grant".

AHTF Evelyn Mackin Traveling Award
This grant was designed to fund a practising occupational or physical therapist in traveling to various hand therapy facilities, in presenting on a specific domain of hand therapy, and in sharing the “pearls” of hand rehabilitation learned from the experience. The grant requires annual AHTF Board Approval.
